Cladding & Roofing partnered with Lendlease to deliver the roofing and façade packages for Stage 2 of the Adelaide Convention Centre redevelopment. This landmark project transformed Adelaide's Riverbank, replacing the original Plenary Building constructed in 1987.
Delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process, the project required a highly collaborative approach from the outset. Working closely with Lendlease and the wider consultant team during the design phase, CRC provided specialist input into design resolution, material selection, buildability and cost optimisation. This early involvement helped streamline the construction process while preserving the architectural vision for one of South Australia's most significant civic developments.
The project incorporated more than 5,000m² of elZinc flat lock façade panels and 5,500m² of KingZip standing seam roof systems. In total, over 7,000 individual flat lock panels in elZinc Rainbow Rojo (Red) were supplied and installed to create the building’s distinctive red façade, which has become an instantly recognisable feature of Adelaide’s skyline.
The use of elZinc Rainbow Rojo provided both a bold architectural statement and exceptional long-term performance. Each panel required precise fabrication and installation to ensure consistent alignment and seamless integration across the complex geometry of the façade. The finished result delivers a striking combination of colour, texture, and depth that gives the Convention Centre its unique identity along the Riverbank Precinct.
Complementing the façade, the KingZip standing seam roofing system was selected for its proven performance, weather resistance, and ability to span large areas efficiently. Covering approximately 5,500m², the roof provides a durable, low-maintenance solution suited to the scale and complexity of this world-class events facility.
Projects of this scale demand detailed planning, technical expertise, and close coordination between all project stakeholders. Throughout the fourteen-month delivery program, Cladding & Roofing worked in partnership with Lendlease and the broader project team to ensure all roofing and façade elements were installed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
The completion of Stage 2 marked a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution of the Adelaide Convention Centre, expanding its capacity and strengthening Adelaide’s reputation as a premier destination for conferences, exhibitions, and major events.
